Algorithmic Tapestry

Algorithmic Tapestry

Algorithmic Tapestry is based on geometric algorithms commonly used by engineers, with depictions of quasicrystals, nanocrystals, and a series of digital and analog references to computing technology and numeric systems from 20,000 years ago to the present. There are multiple references to the research labs utilized by students and faculty throughout this facility, for example, the inside of a Turbo 350 Transmission sits at the end of one hall and is connected to the Automotive engineering section. After this project was completed, my parents visited the Engineering Centers Building and were talking to a student studying in one of the halls, she said she wasn’t even an engineering student, but she loved to come study in this building, especially because of the floor and way the space felt to her. To me, that makes a successful design and project!
